Share
Tutorial on how to setup Cyberduck. Cyberduck allows you to SSH into your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch to edit files, add .deb app files, change settings, add/remove pictures and much more!

Step 1: Download Cyberduck: for Mac | for Windows

Step 2: Install / Start Cyberduck

Step 3: Click 'Open Connection'

Step 4: Click the drop-down menu and select "SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)"

Step 5: In the  'Server:' field, you will need to find your device's IP address. In your iPhone, iPod or iPad, go to 'Settings' on your springboard.

Step 6: Select 'Wi-Fi'

Step 7: Tap the blue arrow next to the Wi-Fi network your device and computer are connected to.

Step 8: Write down your 'IP Address' located under the 'DHCP' tab. (see below)

Step 9: Go back to Cyberduck and type in your device's IP Address in the 'Server:' field.

Step 10: Type "root" (all lower-case, minus parenthesis) in the 'Username:' field.

Step 11: Type "alpine" (all lower-case, minus parenthesis) in the 'Password:' field.

Step 12: Click 'Connect' and allow your device to be found by Cyberduck.

If your device cannot be found:
    • Make sure both, your computer and your device are on same Wi-Fi signal
    • Try to open your device and make sure its on home screen
    • Keep hitting "Retry" multiple times. This does work!

Step 13: You should now be under the 'Bonjour' tab - if not, select 'Bonjour'.

Step 14: Double-click your device ("device".local. - SFTP)

You have now successfully setup Cyberduck!

NOTE!!  -  Sometimes Cyberduck can be weird when trying to open your iPhone, iPod or iPad connection. You may encounter a "Connection Failed" dialog box. Open your iDevice so that its "On" (NOT in standby mode), make sure your device is on the same WiFi signal as your computer and then keep hitting "Try Again" until it opens up.
